Sponsors :-

Thank you for your contributions and I know some of you have already agreed to do this again for next year, which is fantastic and greatly appreciated.

Thanks to all those that assisted in Marking some vital games including David Williams.

There were no real surprises over the weekend, with all the major seeds reaching the finals, the match of the weekend has to be the Over 50 final, where Mark Hurd eventually overcame Neil Andrews in a hard fought 5 setter.

Andy cruised through to the final and beating Gus fairly convincingly, however poor Gus had just played the doubles Final before going straight back on court to play against a fresh Andy.

Matt Theodoris was always going to beat Nick in the Over 40, due to the number of games Nick played on the Saturday in a row, which left him with no energy for Sunday’s matches!! Lesson learnt for me on that.

Keith didn’t take long to overcome Howard in the over 60 final, as Howard had fought back so hard in his Semi Final against Peter P; Howard looked very tired from the start.

The Ladies event was always down to Bev to stay injury free, which she managed, however it won’t be long before Debbie forgets about tennis and joins the Racketball community.

Den beat all opponents 3-0 to win the round robin event for the Ladies Over 50.

Doubles Event saw the only real upset in the Semi final between Bell & Ypes versus Corben & Sargeant, with the unseeded pair taking out the no 1 seeds 3-2.  In a game which lasted near 90 mins, which I thoroughly enjoyed marking!!

It was really great to see so many Jersey players making the effort to come over and I hope they will continue to support this event. Next year I am hoping that more clubs get involved in supporting this tournament, as 95% players were either West Hants members or from Jersey, so I hope that all the other clubs that play in the racketball leagues will at least try to enter and continue to make this an ongoing success.
