After a long weekend of Squash singles, squash doubles and racketball singles at 2 Riversmeet leisure Centre a winner was finally found in the main tournament of the singles squash!
The final was contested with 2 new faces (proving that the handicap system does work) Melannie Hagenau who beat Nick Jenkins (seeded 1) 3-1 in the semi’s and Joe Cook who beat Charlie Campbell-Wynter (seeded 2) also 3-1. In the final Joe Cook had to start each game at -13 to Melannie starting on 0, and each game was up to 15, best of 5 games. To the crowds pleasure Melannie won the first game 15-13, but the young 16yrs old brought it back to 1-1, and in the end was just that bit more quick, and Melannie was that bit more tired, allowing Joe to win the title for his first time 3-1, but most probably not his last!!
Racketball finalists Nick Jenkins and Paul Hill winner Nick Jenkins 3-1
Singles main final Melannie Hagenau and Joe Cook, winner Joe Cook 3-1
There was also a raffle draw and a great buffet for all to cap yet again another successful Christmas Tournament.
Kind Regards
Charlie Campbell-Wynter
