Match reports from the SWL on 7th Feb 2010
Below are Team photos of the U13 boys and U13 Girls in new Dorset Tops. How to order these will follow.
U15 Boys traveled to Devon
Team Sam McIntyre, William Sargeant, Scott McGrail, Adam Aldridge, Liam Aldridge
Sam put on a spirited show against Jo Pyre from Devon in his first match, but was just unable to clinch the match even though the scores were very close in the final game, losing 3/1. Will's first match was the closest of the day for Dorset, where he drew 2 games all against Richard Harvey of Devon, only to lose in the 5th game. Scott battled hard against Devon, but was unable to finish a very close fought match. Adam made a strong start, but unfortunately was unable to keep up his momentum in the following 2 games. Liam, as the youngest player of the event by far at 10years old, put up a valiant effort and almost clinched a victory in his third game, but sadly had to capitulate overall. A brave effort. Somerset, however appeared to be a much more experienced opposition and the boys were unable to make any serious impression, but all battled hard, kept up a solid and supportive team spirit, and will now be working towards raising their game.

U13 Boys
Unfortunately Devon failed to turn up. That left both Dorset and Somerset with just one match to play. Wearing their new Dorset kit, our U13 boys were psyched up for their match against Glos B. All 5 boys displayed some excellent squash. Phil Sargeant, Charlie Sawyer, Haden Holburn and Rory Bell all beat their opponents 3-0, whilst Joe Grange had a superb battle to come through from being 2-1 down to win 3-2. A great result and thoroughly deserved! Well done boys!

The U13 girls faced Glos 1 in their 1st match on Sunday. Although they were on home territory, it was an uphill battle as our no 1 Jessica West faced England ranked no 6 Elin Jones. Elin took no prisoners, serving extremely well and punishing Jess with a 3-0 win. Nationally ranked at 43, Elise Bailey faced Amber Peacey who has a ranking of 14, and although fighting hard for every point, Amber was just too strong and Elise went down 3-0. On a brighter note Abbi Hurd registered a win for the home team, beating Freya Lane with a convincing 11/6, 11/6, 11/3 win. In their 2nd match against Glos 2, again the home team faced 3 nationally ranked players at 17, 19 and 24. Our girls gave it everything and despite going down 3-0 in each match, they have gained more experience and are now going away to work on specific areas of their games. Watch out Gloucester next time!
