Lee-On-Solent hosted the inter-County match between Hampshire, Dorset and Sussex. This was always gong to be a tough tournament against two very strong Counties! Unfortunately Jack Turner was injured and with an injury set-back things were not going to get easier!
The team nevertheless took on the challenges with a good spirit and maintained a very good work ethic and positive attitude throughout and all players were a credit to Dorset in carrying out marking duties, in their play, and in representing their County.
First up was Hampshire and although we did not manage to win any games the players were competitive in a number of close games and often not far off the level required. Next up was Sussex and, again, fielding some top Juniors, this was a very tough match – and we were not able to register any wins. Nevertheless what was particularly impressive was that all players seemed to adapt as best they could and improve, or at least try to change the momentum as the matches went on and also that between us all I think that we managed to identify something for every one of the players to work on going forward.
I was delighted to be able to assist and to be part of the day and I am sure that we all learned a lot and that all the players should be able to take valuable lessons from the day to help improve their Squash even further.
I wish all of the players and the other Dorset players the best going forward!
