We had the most we’ve ever had with 36 entrants and some on standby. We were glad to welcome a good contingent from Bournemouth squash club (BSC) for the first time. We had one draw of 12 and 3 of 8 – everyone playing against 3 opponents, best of 3 games up to 11 and miracles of miracles we finished on time!
One group draw was primarily made up from BSC players and the main draw finalists were Charlotte Jones (BSC) and Sonny (BSC) with Charlotte being the winner. On the plate side, Hope and Jake from Two Riversmeet (2RM) battled out the final with Hope winning 17/15 in the second game.
In youngest players draw, the main finalists were Oliver Galloway (2RM) and Cameron Gray (WH), both quite new players, who had two close games with Cameron just winning in the end. In the plate Cameron Kniff (WH) beat Leyton (WH) to win 2-0.
In our biggest draw of 12 players we squeezed in all the matches by starting a little early – in the end Edward Rockall met Jacob Whitfield in the final beating him 2-0. On the plate side Finlay Helbsy (2RM) lost to Oscar Whitfield (WH) 0-2.
The top draw saw Logan Macey (WH) justify his seeding at 1 beating Harry Slade (WH) seeded 2 in the final of the main draw 2-0. In the plate, Jayden Head (2RM) won against Ethan Franklin (2RM).
Well done to everyone who took part, especially those who jumped in with great enthusiasm not long after starting to learn to play squash. Special thanks to everyone who helped with marking too.
